Playback LA Temporarily Closes as COVID-19 Reaches Los Angeles

Just as Playback LA's major renovation was reaching completion, the recording industry came to an abrupt stop.

The COVID-19 pandemic and California's statewide stay-at-home order forced businesses across the entertainment industry to close their doors.

Playback LA was among them.

The timing was brutal.

After an extended build and a growing flow of artists, producers, engineers and industry professionals through the facility, the studio had finally reached the point where the original vision was becoming fully operational.

Then the rooms went quiet.

Dean Earls would later describe the extraordinary timing in his VoyageLA interview, explaining that Playback LA had finally completed its renovations when COVID forced the studio to shut down.
